Korean American Foundation (KAF) is pleased to announce that John Lim, a founding member and Board Secretary, will assume the role of Board Chair starting January 1, 2025. Mr. Lim will succeed Kevin Kang, who has served as Board Chair since 2023 and will continue to serve as a valued member of the Board of Directors.

Under Chairman Kang’s leadership, KAF has achieved remarkable milestones. His tireless dedication brought in numerous Founders Circle Members, donors who have contributed $100,000 or more, which is integral to building KAF’s endowment. Thanks to the collective efforts of the Board under Chairman Kang’s leadership, KAF has provided over $525,000 in grants to 27 organizations in 2024 alone, empowering local nonprofits to make a lasting impact.

“Chairman Kang has been instrumental in strengthening our Foundation’s mission and financial stability,” said Kae H. Ko, KAF’s Interim Executive Director. “We are deeply grateful for his outstanding service and look forward to his continued contributions as a Board Member.”

As the incoming Board Chair, Mr. Lim brings a wealth of experience, vision, and passion to KAF. A founding member of the organization in 2018, Mr. Lim has been pivotal in cultivating donors and building KAF’s endowment, laying the groundwork for sustained growth and community support.

Mr. Lim is a seasoned legal strategist and the co-founder of LimNexus LLP, a preeminent business law firm with a global reach. Additionally, Mr. Lim has devoted decades to nonprofit leadership. He has served on the boards of numerous organizations, including as Board Chair of the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), a national leadership organization for Korean Americans. He currently serves as Board Chair of the Korean American Institute, and as Secretary and Board Member of the Korean American National Museum.

“Mr. Lim’s vision for KAF is rooted in his commitment to empowering future generations and fostering a culture of giving within the Korean American community,” said Mr. Ko. “We are excited to embark on this new chapter under his leadership and continue building on the strong foundation established by Chairman Kang.”

Looking ahead to 2025, KAF remains steadfast in its mission to improve the lives of the most vulnerable members of the Korean American community. Since its founding in 2018, KAF has distributed over $1.68 million in grants to more than 30 nonprofit organizations, ensuring that essential programs and services remain accessible to those who need them most. With a goal to build a $100 million endowment by 2030, KAF is committed to inspiring philanthropy and supporting community-based organizations to increase their effectiveness and sustainability.
